How to Choose the Right Laser Power Using This Table

1. Identify the Material Type
On the left side of the table, locate the material you plan to cut (e.g., Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, or Brass).

2. Determine the Required Cutting Thickness
Along the top row, find the thickness of the material you want to cut (in millimeters).

3. Match Power Level to Material and Thickness
Follow the material row across to see which laser power level covers your desired thickness.
The orange bar represents the maximum cutting thickness that the corresponding laser power can achieve.
(Note: The orange section indicates the limit and is not recommended for continuous, long-term cutting.)

4. Select a Slightly Higher Power for Stability
If your cutting thickness is close to the orange zone (maximum limit), choose the next higher power level to ensure stable, efficient, and long-lasting performance.


Example Guidelines

  • To cut 0.4″ carbon steel, a 1500W laser is sufficient.
  • For 0.79″ stainless steel, you’ll need around a 6000W laser.

To handle 1.57″ carbon steel, choose a 12000W or higher laser power.

    Actual performance will vary depending on material quality, gas type, optical lens condition, and cutting parameters.
  • The orange “maximum cutting thickness” area indicates the limit of the laser’s capability, not the ideal working range for daily use.
